Hello. My name is Thea.
photo courtesy of the amazing and talented Eleanor Gatewood. I hope to post a link to her website soon.....I live in Northern California with my husband, and our one, soon to be two boys. (Eight months pregnant over here, and feelin it!)
I have leaped blindly (so it feels like) into many careers: life-model (i still do that part-time), Bricklayer, farmer. I am currently enjoying my most challenging and rewarding job to date; Stay-at-home-mom.
I am also a life long art enthusiast. You could say I dabble in many of them. Writing, drawing, sewing, knitting, and fashion are a few of the things I have my fingers on these days. I struggle and usually don't succeed in fitting them in amongst all the nose-wiping, spill-cleaning, owie-kissing, and general beauty and mayhem that goes on around here in the job of being a family. I intend to record some of my most memorable moments of all of that here.
Lately I have been working on some handmade Holiday gifts for the two year old. We're on a budget, and his Grandmother spoils him when she comes for the Holidays, so i decided i would keep my end of things simple, and present him with a few little handmade things that I think he'll really love.
He loves wearing necklaces, so I decided to make him three or four simple ones. This is the first. It is hand sewn and embroidered. The cord is knitted. I think I'll make the next two or three a bit more simple.
I have recently re-discovered my love of embroidery, and my first project after years, was this silly little picture of a man with a pigeon on his head. I decided to sew in into a little bag for the little man. Here it is. It still needs some sort of handle.....
Thank you for visiting. I think I will enjoy this blog here. I intend to post at least once a week, so stay tuned.
Yay!!!
